Before beginning the cleaning process, the engine must be allowed to cool down for a minimum of 5 to 6 hours.
Once cooled, the crew can clean the DPF. Accessing the filter elements is a simple matter of opening the hatch, which should take no longer than 15 to 30 minutes.
The cleaning process itself should take approximately 2 to 3 hours, with the actual cleaning of the filter elements taking around 1 to 2 hours.
In total, you can expect the DPF system of a 500 KW engine to be thoroughly cleaned in around 8 hours maximum.
