Commissioning & Service engineers work at a customer’s site, where they are responsible for commissioning and overseeing the installation of systems, plants and equipment.

Commissioning & Service engineers help to make sure that the products they are responsible for, work properly and that they meet the customer’s needs.

Responsibilities

  • Scheduling and coordinating work to tight deadlines
  • Ensuring that equipment works to its specification
  • Making improvements to, and offering advice about, operational procedures
  • Creating and carrying out test procedures
  • Investigating problems, diagnosing and repairing faults
  • Troubleshooting
  • Liaising with installation/project engineers
  • Writing reports and documentation
  • Providing technical support
  • Training maintenance and operative staff where appropriate

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Technical Physics or Process Technology
  • 5 years’ experience in a maintenance, test or service role within the Marine, Oil and Gas Petrochemical Industry or similar – preferably with a system development, system integration company or similar
  • Experience and knowledge of instrumentation, PLC, SCADA, CAN / CANOpen / J1939, Modbus (TCP/IP), valves, pumps, sampling systems, analysers, E&I wiring and control panels
  • A proactive team player in combination with a strong self-supporting/ independent character
  • Good command of the English language
  • Willingness to frequent worldwide travel
